India's 3rd Largest IT Firm Wipro to invest 1 Billion in AI Training of its 2,50,000 employees.

New Delhi, July 13, 2023 - Wipro Ltd, the country's third-largest software company, has unveiled its plan to invest $1 billion, approximately Rs 8,230 crore, in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The company aims to train all of its 2.5 lakh employees in AI and incorporate this technology into its product offerings.

Over the next three years, Wipro will allocate a portion of the investment to implement AI across internal operations and customer solutions, involving 30,000 employees from cloud, data analytics, consulting, and engineering teams. The company intends to equip its entire workforce with a foundational understanding of AI and its responsible usage within the next 12 months. Furthermore, specialized training will be provided to employees in AI-specific roles.

Wipro recognizes the significant potential of AI in creating multimillion-dollar businesses across various sectors. Notable generative AI models like ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Stable Diffusion have gained global attention in recent months.

In light of these possibilities, Wipro's initiative to train its employees in AI aims to enhance its research and development activities and strengthen its expertise in data analytics. To facilitate this, the company will develop a comprehensive curriculum tailored to different levels of employees and their respective roles.
