Are Writing and Editing two separate job roles? How do they complement each other for a high quality and refined copy and publication?

Definitely, writing and editing are two distinct roles in the process of creating high-quality and refined copy and publications. In a corporate/office establishment, there are more writers, and few editors. All the written copy is sent to the editorial desk for quality checks (QC) before it is re-written and published online or offline. At times, the writer has to perform both the tasks of Writing as well as Editing it. 

Writing involves the initial creation of content. A writer generates ideas, organizes thoughts, and crafts the text to convey a message effectively. Their primary focus is on generating creative and engaging content that meets the intended purpose. Writers often work on the first draft, where they bring their unique perspective and style to the content.

Editing, on the other hand, is the process of reviewing, revising, and improving the written material. They pay attention to the overall structure, grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, style, and formatting.
