A CONTENT WRITER’S JOURNEY: Sanjay Nannaparaju

Truly memorable: I started my career as a Content Writer in the year 2000. My first employer was SN Infotech Pvt Ltd (Countryoven.com) which was India's First Ecommerce Portal that showcased thousands of products, and I had to provide highly creative and appealing product descriptions. This website connected Indians settled in US with their families (parents, siblings, relatives and friends) in India.

So, when an NRI wanted to send a gift (cakes, sweets, bouquets, greeting cards...) they could order from this website and the products were delivered across India. Amazon and Flipkart which with we are familiar now weren't existing then. At SN Infotech Pvt Ltd I was the sole Content Writer working alongside 4 web designers.

In the later times, I had to meet the content requirements of a team of SEOs. So, it isn't new for me to deal alone with teams of designers and SEOs. Then and later, it was only the right content priority and strategy that helped me to overcome the pressure of the demanding work environment.

The PCWC program that you see today was launched in 2012 soon after its curriculum was approved by Professors at STRIDE, IGNOU, New Delhi. Significantly, the 25 Modules of PCWC program are drawn from my experience with different categories of On-page and Off-page content.

In the year 2000, there was no one to guide me, and I had to learn everything the hard way. Now, I have the esteemed privilege to train aspiring content writers in the art and science of content writing. 😊👍🏻 What more Associates!

One Content Writer - Vs - 6 SEOs

One Content Writer - Vs - 6 SEOs

Feeling Encircled: The Best Solution

I wonder why, but online businesses are ready to hire more SEO and PPC campaigners, but seldom recognize the importance of content writers and the need to enhance their numbers. This fact is very emotional for me, as in one company where I worked as a Manager, I had to develop content to meet the demands of a huge team of 6 digital marketing professionals. Their demands for content writing were varied and immense. Some wanted articles to be written around specific keywords, some wanted write-ups for creatives going into social media, some wanted meta-content, and others wanted short descriptions for product promotions. Their demands were overwhelming and sometimes made me feel encircled and breathless.

What Should the Content Writer Do?

In a scenario where one content writer is tasked with meeting the demands of 6 SEOs, it's crucial to manage the workload effectively and communicate the challenges to the management. Here are some strategies the content writer can employ:

Prioritize Tasks:

Assess Urgency: Determine which tasks are the most time-sensitive and prioritize them accordingly.

Value Impact: Focus on tasks that will have the most significant impact on the company’s goals, such as high-traffic keywords or key promotional campaigns.

Set Realistic Expectations:

Communicate Limitations: Clearly communicate your workload and capacity to the SEOs and management. Explain the realistic timeframes for content delivery.

Negotiate Deadlines: Where possible, negotiate deadlines to spread out the workload more evenly.

Utilize Tools and Resources:

Content Calendars: Use a content calendar to organize and schedule tasks. This helps in visualizing the workload and planning ahead.

Templates and Frameworks: Develop templates for common content types (e.g., blog posts, meta descriptions) to speed up the creation process.

Batch Similar Tasks:

Group Tasks: Group similar tasks together to increase efficiency. For example, write all meta descriptions in one session or batch-create social media posts.

Leverage SEO Insights:

Collaborate with SEOs: Work closely with SEOs to understand their requirements better and get insights on high-priority keywords and topics.

SEO Tools: Use SEO tools to streamline keyword research and optimize content more efficiently.

Request Support:

Highlight Workload: Make a case to management about the need for additional content writers. Use data and examples of missed opportunities or delayed projects to strengthen your argument.

Freelancers or Interns: Suggest hiring freelancers or interns to help with the workload temporarily until the team can expand.

Self-Care:

Set Boundaries: Ensure you set clear boundaries for work hours to prevent burnout.

Take Breaks: Regular breaks are essential to maintain productivity and creativity.

Track and Report:

Document Efforts: Keep a detailed log of tasks completed, time spent, and any issues encountered. This documentation can support your case for additional resources.

Report Progress: Regularly update management on your progress and any bottlenecks you encounter.

Conclusion:

By implementing these strategies, the content writer can better manage the demands of the SEOs while advocating for the necessary resources to support their role effectively.

Does the rise of AI models mark the end of content writers or it only complements one another?

Does the rise of AI models mark the end of content writers or it only complements one another?

Perplexity.ai says...

The rise of AI models does not mark the end of content writers. Instead, AI models complement content writers by enhancing their productivity and efficiency. AI tools can help with tasks such as generating ideas, creating outlines, drafting paragraphs, and even rewriting sentences, freeing up human writers to focus on higher-level creative tasks and ensuring the quality and uniqueness of the content.

AI models like Copymatic, Jasper, and Writesonic are designed to assist content writers by automating repetitive tasks and providing tools for brainstorming, outlining, and editing. These tools can generate content quickly and efficiently, but they require human oversight and editing to ensure the content is accurate, engaging, and meets the desired tone and style.

Moreover, AI model are not yet capable of replicating the creativity, nuance, and depth that human writers bring to content. AI-generated content often lacks the human touch and can be perceived as unnatural or lacking in emotional resonance. Human writers are essential for creating content that resonates with audiences and conveys the unique perspective and voice of a brand.

In summary, AI models do not replace content writers but rather augment their capabilities, allowing them to focus on higher-level creative tasks and ensuring the quality and uniqueness of the content.

All you need to know about Key-words.

What are key-words?  How many types of key-words are there?

Keywords are specific words or phrases that people use when searching for information, products, or services on search engines like Google. In the context of SEO and digital marketing, keywords are crucial because they help determine which content appears in search engine results pages (SERPs) when users enter a particular query.

There are several types of keywords based on different characteristics:

Short-Tail Keywords: Also known as head keywords, these are short, broad terms usually consisting of one or two words. Short-tail keywords typically have high search volume but are also highly competitive. For example, "shoes" or "digital marketing".

Long-Tail Keywords: Long-tail keywords are longer and more specific phrases that typically consist of three or more words. They are more precise and targeted compared to short-tail keywords. Long-tail keywords often have lower search volume but can be easier to rank for and attract more qualified traffic. For example, "women's running shoes for flat feet" or "best digital marketing strategies for startups".

Transactional Keywords: These keywords indicate that the user is ready to make a purchase or take a specific action. They often include terms like "buy", "order", "download", "subscribe", etc. For example, "buy Nike running shoes" or "download free ebook".

Informational Keywords: Informational keywords are used when users are seeking information or answers to their questions. They often include terms like "how to", "what is", "tips for", etc. For example, "how to tie a tie" or "what is digital marketing".

Navigational Keywords: Navigational keywords are used when users are trying to find a specific website or web page. They often include brand names or specific website names. For example, "Facebook login" or "Amazon Prime".

Commercial Investigation Keywords: These keywords indicate that the user is researching or comparing products or services before making a purchase decision. They often include terms like "review", "best", "compare", etc. For example, "best DSLR cameras 2024" or "iPhone 14 vs Samsung Galaxy S25".

Understanding the different types of keywords and their intent can help you create content that aligns with what your target audience is searching for, ultimately improving your website's visibility and attracting relevant traffic.

What is key-words research? What are the online tools for key-word research?

Keyword research is the process of identifying the words and phrases that people use to search for information, products, or services on search engines like Google. It's a crucial aspect of search engine optimization (SEO) and content marketing because understanding what keywords your target audience is using allows you to optimize your content to attract more relevant traffic to your website.

Here's a breakdown of the keyword research process:

Brainstorming: Start by brainstorming a list of potential keywords and phrases related to your business, product, or content. Think about what terms your target audience might use when searching for what you offer.

Keyword Expansion: Use keyword research tools to expand your list of potential keywords. These tools provide data on search volume, competition, and related keywords.

Competitor Analysis: Analyze the keywords your competitors are targeting. This can give you insights into keywords that are driving traffic to their sites and help you identify opportunities.

Evaluate Relevance and Search Volume: Assess the relevance of each keyword to your content or business and look at its search volume. You want to target keywords that are relevant to your audience and have a decent search volume.

Keyword Difficulty: Consider the competition for each keyword. High competition keywords may be more difficult to rank for, especially if you're just starting out. Look for a mix of high and low competition keywords.

Long-Tail Keywords: Long-tail keywords are longer, more specific phrases that typically have lower search volume but also lower competition. These can be valuable for targeting a niche audience.

Organize and Prioritize: Organize your keywords into groups or themes based on relevance and search intent. Prioritize the keywords that are most relevant and have the highest potential to drive traffic and conversions.

Some popular online tools for keyword research include:

Google Keyword Planner: This is a free tool provided by Google Ads that allows you to research keywords and get historical statistics and traffic forecasts.

SEMrush is a comprehensive SEO tool that offers keyword research, competitive analysis, and other features to help you improve your website's search rankings.

Ahrefs: Ahrefs is another powerful SEO tool that provides keyword research, backlink analysis, and site auditing features.

Moz Keyword Explorer: Moz offers a keyword research tool that provides data on search volume, difficulty, and potential for each keyword.

KeywordTool.io: This tool generates keyword ideas based on Google's autocomplete feature. It also provides keyword suggestions from other platforms like YouTube, Bing, Amazon, and more.

Ubersuggest is a free keyword research tool that provides keyword ideas, search volume, competition data, and keyword difficulty scores.

These tools can help you identify the right keywords to target in your content and optimize your website for better search engine visibility.

Adaptability: In a fast-paced environment, adaptability is key. A writer working at Mach 10 is flexible and able to pivot quickly to address changing priorities or emerging topics. They stay informed about developments in their field and can incorporate new information into their writing seamlessly.
