If movement is the sign of life, change is the order of life. Man has survived and progressed due to a strong determination to survive. Man's intelligence has helped him to cure disease, live healthy,
reproduce and dominate all other creatures on Earth. Before SARS and now COVID-19 the rage of deadly viruses evolving from epidemic to pandemic stage isn't new for humans. So, till the vaccine arrives, human intelligence has no recourse but to make temporary or makeshift arrangements to make life run normally.
The wide and fast spread of COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on every aspect of life. Of significance is Man's intelligence that made desperate efforts at restoring normalcy. In Education, the
lockdown scenario was met with e-learning, where the student and teacher interacted online, and thereby the academic process was given an immediate re-start.
Understandably, e-leaning is not a fall-out of COVID-19. Only that, e-learning received greater limelight and its usefulness re-discovered in the wake of the lockdown that followed the pandemic. Definitely, e-learning is not a solution or suitable platform to replace traditional classroom teaching and learning in India or anywhere in the world.
E-learning is to be seen as temporarily complementing the regular and offline teaching-learning environment. However, e-learning capably answers the question, if the traditional systems of education fail to deliver, then what? In the post COVID-19 era, where we all continue to live with SMS - Sanitizer, Mask and Social Distancing, e-learning will soon be replaced by blended learning (partly traditional & partly online).
The days are not far, when we will see our children going to school, youngsters going to college, and teachers bringing in innovative teaching methods to make teaching and learning innovative and interesting.
